SIW AUDIO BOOK Chapter 1 - A Stranger in Our Home

YOU GUYS DID IT!!! Thanks to so many people sharing my animatic of my story, I was able to reach 1,000 views on it! And nowww here is Chapter 1 of “ The Strength in Weakness” Audio Book and Animatic. :)

Also, as promised, I will continue to turn my story into an audio book. :) I won’t be able to animate the WHOLE of every chapter, but instead just particular scenes like this one. :)

Story, Art, Voice Talents, and Editing were all done by myself, while Epidemic Sound covered the music and sound effects!

my tmnt iteration 🐢

yoshi aka splinter found the 4 turtles inside a crashed TCRI truck. the mutagen from broken canisters covered both him and the turtles mutating them. it is implied that when struck by the truck the blow killed yoshi but the mutagen restarted his heart and mended any injuries, reviving him. the turtles aren’t biologically sister as they are of different species and therefore from different clutches. as turtles they had anywhere between months and a day age difference but when mutated it translated into human years explaining the 2 year gap between mikey and leo/raph but the age is estimated and instead of birthday the turtles celebrate their mutation day. splinter eventually discovered an abandoned metro station that was never opened and decided to stay in there as their home. the station had a small cafe area and public restroom and thankfully hasn’t been cut from the city’s power and water grids. april met the turtles when they were 7 and she was 16, splinter left them in an alleyway while looking for food and supplies and april stumbled upon them. at first splinter was really freaked out when he saw april but when he realised she was friendly and didn’t mean no harm they got to know each other and sometimes april would come down to the lair to babysit the turtles while splinter was out. she eventually introduced the turtles to pizza when she brought a box with her and they fell in love with it.

the designs are mid show of sorts that are after the barn arc

leonardo: a bellinger turtle with leatherback sea turtle genes. the eldest and the most aquatic out of all the turtles. likes spending her time swimming in the flooded metro tunnel situated in the centre of their lair. she got a similar virus to what regular bellinger turtles have making her slowly lose her vision as she aged. that did not stop her as she learned to rely on her other sense and acquired a 6th sense of sorts to help her get around. her blindness doesn’t hinder her in combat and actually makes her more capable of moving around in the dark than her sisters but still she cannot see faces so instead she maps them out in her mind by touching them with her hands to memorise them. she has shell cell just like everyone else except it is modified to show in braille. in her free time she enjoys listening to music or audio books and if her sisters are around listening to tv while one of them describes the action on the screen. she has physical hatsune miku memorabilia like figures and plushies that she can touch. leo can still see in blurs of colour but no matter what donnie tried she couldnt help her vision. she is self conscious of the scars given to her by shredder and tries to cover them with a hood. while still agile and strong she has issues with her right knee and wears a knee brace. her element is the ocean waves

raphael: a red crowned turtle with cherryhead tortoise genes. she is the second eldest. she is the worst swimmer but makes up for it in physical strength. the piece of her plastron was cracked during an accident while they were small and the lore for the gold tooth is yet to be decided. the flame carving on her plastron was made by mikey. she is extremely protective of her sister and although gets jealous by assuming that leo is splinter’s favourite still loves her very much. has a tortoise named spike a small brine shrimp tank. she was the first to meet casey and thought back against her drunk father. her element is flame

donatello: a painted turtle with softshell turtle genes. she is the middle child and spends most of her time in her lab. she built the heat lamp above the sitting area where her and her sisters like to bask and relax after a long day. her shell was crushed by rocksteady and bebop but fortunately with leatherheads helped bring her back with a new metal carapace to replace her old on. sarcastic and cool headed, her personality resembling 87 raph. her love language is random niche gadgets. she is the next most aquatic after leo and sometimes joins leo for a swim. her element is lightning

michelangelo: the most creative out of all of them and has a lot of hobbies ranging between art and crafts to cooking and skateboarding. is the glue of the family with a spunky attitude and quick thinking. although the worst fighter out of her family she still can handle herself in a fight. has an orange tabby cat she named klunk that she found while looking for scraps at a junkyard. she can be a little absent minded but she is definitely not unintelligent and takes great offence to anyone babying her. her element is constellations

Saw your post about disability rep in worm

I have not heard of worm before and I am sort of tired of the superhero fandoms I am currently in (spiderman batman tmnt ninjago) especially with how samey and repetitive they can feel would you recommend worm to me

Also I am just looking for anything with good rep

I would certainly recommend it! It is for countless reasons the best peice of fiction I have ever read. And it's free to read online or listen to as an audio book. Though with how long it is, I'd say that the investment for getting into it is closer to a series of books then it is a standalone novel.

I'd especially recommend it to someone whose tired of the repetitiveness of mainstream superhero stuff. Worm is a very unquie take on the genre. The best way I can describe it is that worm is to superhero media as undertale is to jrpgs. Both in the sense of the meta and deconstructive elements, and the sense of it being a more well thought out and grounded take on the concept, and where the humanity and individuality of every single character is considered. Though be warned, also like undertale, it is darker then the media it's based off of.

I guess this turned into a "worm is undertale for superheros" post.

Anyway. I'd definitely recommend that you read Worm.

last book: I actually have two answers for this lol. I'm currently listening to Simon vs the homosapiens agenda on audio, just so I have something for background noise. I’ve read it before, it’s fine. I’m currently reading The Lord of the Rings. It’s a slow go though, I just pick at it a little when I have free time at school.

last movie: Home Alone. My teacher put it on today because it was the last day before the break but I had just watched it over the weekend so I wasn’t that engaged.

last TV show: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (2012) I finally finished it!!! I really liked 2012 but the last thing I watched was the 87 crossover. I don’t like it how the writers treat the 87 turtles like they’re dumb because they came from an era where violence wasn’t tolerated on TV. Overall great show though.

sweet/spicy/savoury: depends. Right now I’m craving something savoury, maybe some mild spice? I like spice when it has flavour.

relationship status: single :P you can’t date fictional characters and I don’t like any of the real people I know that way haha

I'll answer the second question first, because the first one is going to get long, so I want to put that under a "read more"

Favorite line(s) that I have written

My favorite lines are probably both from a Young Justice (cartoon) work I wrote called The Big Guns, where Batman goes to Mr. and Mrs. Kent to convince Superman to be nicer to his clone, Superboy. Both are said by Ma Kent, naturally.

“I respect the Heck out of your Justice League,” Ma Kent said, “but the whole bunch of ‘em treat emotional repression like it’s an Olympic sport."

[Clark] hesitated. “Do you really think [Superboy's] scared? He just seems so angry all the time.”  “Ain’t a whole lot of difference between angry and scared, sometimes — except angry feels safer.”

Fic idea that I haven't written yet

It's an idea for a TMNT 03 fic that I have very roughly outlined, and really want to write when I can finally wrangle my brain.

Basically, Hamato Yoshi survives his encounter with the Shredder thanks to advanced Utrom medical technology. From a human technological standpoint, they basically bring him back to life. His pet rat Splinter, however, still believes that his beloved master is dead, and continues on in the events of canon for a few years: adopting his sons, getting mutated, and beginning to train them as ninjas in the sewers. Meanwhile, Yoshi becomes friends with Leatherhead, who is still living with the Utroms at this time.

Or: Sometimes, a family is a ninja master, his former pet rat, all his adopted turtle sons, their alligator uncle, a bunch of squishy pink aliens, and the humans who have dedicated themselves to protecting them.

Buckle up. I've got Thoughts™ about this story.

One day, several years after nearly being killed by the Shredder, Yoshi is running from some Foot ninja and goes into the sewers to hide. He stumbles across the Turtle Tots (who definitely aren't supposed to be out of the Lair while Master Splinter is on a supply run). Recognizing the similarities between them and LH—and the fact that they're babies—Yoshi tries to approach them, but they bolt further into the tunnels and disappear.

When Yoshi gets back to HQ and tells LH and the Utrom council about this, they all agree that the mutants need to be brought back to HQ so they can take care of them. You can't leave kids alone in the sewers! LH definitely picks up a bunch of books on parenting and turtle care.

Yoshi and LH head back down into the sewers and set up a surveilance system to try to find the turtles. Most of the cameras never catch more than a few frames of turtle-y shadows before they get dismantled (hi Donnie!). However, one of the better hidden cameras spots not just the turtles, but an older mutant rat who seems to be taking care of them. Yoshi thinks he looks familiar, but then the audio feed picks up one of the tots calling him "Master Splinter" and Yoshi damn near loses his mind.

Yoshi and LH eventually find the Lair and make contact with Master Splinter. Splinter is overjoyed that his beloved master is alive, but very wary of taking his sons to live with the Utroms, who are strangers to him. He may love Yoshi, but he's a father now, and he has to put his sons' safety first. The Tots are entranced by LH, and ask him all sorts of questions about his scales and teeth and climb all over him like a jungle gym. LH is a little disappointed that he doesn't get to be a dad, but he is fully on board to become their doting uncle.

Eventually, Splinter is convinced to move his family in with the Utroms. He gets to train his sons in ninjutsu alongside his Master Yoshi (who is VERY IMPRESSED at how good Splinter is from just mimicking his moves as an ordinary rat) and gets to split some of the parenting duties with Grandpa Yoshi and Uncle Leatherhead. After all, being a single father of four is exhausting.

Donnie of course becomes the darling of all the Utrom scientists and has unlimited access to all the advanced alien technology he could ever dream of. However, he still does a lot of tinkering with repairing and repurposing old or broken equipment. It's how he got his start in tech, back in the sewers, and he's also found that it helps him learn faster than starting out with something brand new and fully functional. By getting familiar with older models, their quirks, and common points of failure, he gets really good at improving new designs. With his help, the transmat gets completed a few months or years faster than in canon.

Raph sort of becomes the rough-and-tumble little brother to the rest of the Guardians. He even talks them into letting him tag along on some of their (less dangerous) missions. Guardian Prime Hamato Yoshi is furious whenever he finds out his grandson has gone on another "outing", but the Raph is stubborn and the Guardians think he's too cute to say no to (though they're never going to tell him that). When he's older, he has the most contact (and conflict) with the Foot clan, which absolutely terrifies Yoshi.

Mikey finds out that a fair number of the Utroms are actually really interested in Earth pop culture. They always have a grand old time reading comics together, and Mikey is always roping in other Utroms and Guardians for movie watch parties. The Guardians are suckers for letting Mikey sit in their laps, and some of the Utroms even let him hug them like a pillow during some of the scarier parts. He and Yoshi bond by watching classic Japanese monster movies and samurai movies together. Mikey even gets him to watch a little anime with him. Living in America among literal space aliens, it's a nice way for Yoshi to maintain a connection to some of the more mundane parts of his native culture.

Leo is a little shy, and really only latches onto a few people outside of his immediate family. One of them is Mr. Mortu, who Leo thinks is just the coolest person ever. He gets really interested in Mortu's responsibilities, so he kind of becomes a little assistant to him. If Mr. Mortu is unavailable and you have any questions about the logistics of the Utrom's and Guardians' operations worldwide, Leonardo is the turtle to talk to.

Surprisingly, he also bonds with the Navigators (the unnerving trio of Utroms who make up the Utrom council and speak as one being in three parts). He likes to sit in front of their tanks as they tell him stories about what life is like among the stars. After a while, the Navigators start using a lot of bad puns, and Leo starts picking up the ability to sense safe pathways between solar systems. Eventually, when the Utroms get back to their homeworld (Guardians and mutants in tow), Leo is almost as capable as an actual Utrom Navigator. (Cue opportunities for him to lead his family on Space Shenanigans).

While the turtles are growing up, they need activities to keep them occupied and to test their ninja skills, so Yoshi designates them as the official testers of security at the TCRI building. Basically, can they break into the building? Can they get into especially secured areas? Can they break out of the building? And can they do this all while remaining undetected? In theory it's a training exercise for both the turtles and the security personel. In practice, it's a complex running tournament of capture the flag. There is a leaderboard set up in just about every breakroom and common area, and Grandpa Yoshi, Master Splinter, and Uncle Leatherhead are always insufferably smug whenever their boys are in the lead.

I want to write this so badly, and I will someday! My brain is just not cooperating at the moment.

SIW AUDIO BOOK Chapter 1 - Sneak Peak

This is a test. :) For a little while now, I have been getting comments to turn my tmnt story,  " The Strength in Weakness " into an audio book. And I prayed about it for a good amount of time, as well if God wanted me to try. So eventually, I decided to give it a shot. :) This is the result! If this video reaches 1,000 views by May 10th, then I'll continue making my story into an animated audio book. :)

Truly terrifying. I love it.

I mean, I've never played any of the sonic games either, i've just read all the comics. (And i watched sonic boom but thats just a fun show) Those characters just latch onto my brain like velcro and suddenly i know things about games i've never even looked at.

Star wars is pretty good, especially episodes 1-6 (a bold take, i know). All of the physical stuff i have is actually pre sequel star wars stuff, i have a bunch of books that came out before ep 1-3 (i stole all of it from my uncle). My favourite things are the trilogy of Han Solo books, it's Han's story before the movies. Infinitely better than the movie btw.

Goofy shows are the best, i have been meaning to look into redvsblue for a bit now, if nothing else just to understand references. I have a huge watch list right now but i'm sure i could slip in some best of comps. If you say you enjoy it, i'm willing to bet i would too, since we have the same fantastic taste.

I LOVE ROTTMNT AND TMNT2012!! I haven't watched much else TMNT related (gen 1 TF scarred me to older shows made to sell toys) but I love those shows! I might have to check out your AU, i'm always interested in some AUs.

Oh, I know the feeling, I hate it when I exhaust the fic websites. And I also cursed to be unable to write my own stuff because I am physically incapable of writing to my brain's dumb and unreasonable standards(I have a wicked vivid imagination, like do you know that 'picture an apple' test? That apple is in 1080p HD colour surround sound audio in my head. And my brain expects me to be able to communicate that in writing). That's when I start digging through old archives on Tumblr; you can find some real gems from back in the day. Some of the stuff i have found is truly beautiful...

I also started on Wattpad, PJO, HTTYD, Ninjago, and Transformers ruled my life on there. Baby's first huge hyperfixations... I have no memory of what i was reading, i remember some Tf-Tf crossover stuff, and a dumb jeff the killer ninjago fic that hurts my brain to think about, and the weirdest ninjago vampire fic that i read like 4 chapters of that traumatized me, for some reason. Ah the memories.. I haven't opened Wattpad in years.

in my AU, bee was an eployee with the goverment, a direct underling of the big boss; sentinel prime. Sentinel takes on the role of Tony, Bumblebee the role of Peter, and they vibes with those fun things.

When the war starts, he goes MIA assumed dead at some point, and its all sad right, but then later he has a badass comeback, promptly to start scolding (read: absoloutely lambasting) Bumblebee about all the dumb shit he's done

"Curse of the Evil Eye"

Season 2, Episode 5

Shredder joins the three segments of the Eye of Sarnath together to obtain unlimited power, but its abilities soon fall into unlikely hands.

We've reached the end of the Eye of Sarnath arc. This one is credited to Martin Pasko, whose work you may have seen across a wide variety of sitcoms and cartoons in the eighties and nineties including Batman: The Animated Series and TMNT rival Bucky O'Hare.

Dressed as construction workers, the Turtles are on the trail of the third segment of the Eye of Sarnath using a new "Sarnath-o-meter". Once again Shredder has the upper hand here though, both in terms of the finding the fragments and in the style stakes. Today Shreds is sporting a fetching yellow nautical getup.

Throughout this arc we've seen small hints that Baxter is unhappy at taking abuse from Shredder, and here it finally starts to come to a head. After being ordered to go get lunch, Stockman quietly hints that he's planning to have the last laugh.

We get a rare glimpse of Shredder without his helmet as he fuses the three fragments to it. Meanwhile the Turtles have tracked the crystals to the bad guy hideout, and spot Baxter leaving the premises on lunch duty.

Baxter has also spotted the Turtles though, and uses a ray gun to... zap the Turtles, disintegrating their disguises (but somehow not their standard attire?)

With their cover blown, the Turtles attract the attention of some dock workers, who are unusually antagonistic to the team and outright call them fugitives. Thinking there's likely a big reward for their capture, the workers begin hurling barrels at them and generally being antagonistic.

The Turtles fight back, and we get the unusual visual of Donatello taking out a regular person with a flying kick to the gut. Eventually the two workers are laid out and the Turtles tie them up in a fishing net.

With that distraction out of the way, the green team confront Shredder, but he can now use the power of the Eye to transform objects at will, which he demonstrates by turning Leonardo's swords into ice cream cones, and bringing the dragon on Baxter's take-out box to life.

While all this is happening, Baxter manages to swipe the Sarnath-o-meter. Leonardo and Michelangelo tangle with the dragon in mid-flight as Raphael and Donatello confront Shredder on the ground.

The dragon is pursued by a Channel 6 news van containing April, Vernon, and a new character, van driver and all-round nebbish Blodgett. When the crew leave the van to report on the dragon Blodgett drives off in fear, before managing to drive the vehicle off the end of a pier. If you're keeping track, you may have noticed this is the second episode in a row where one of the news vans was destroyed.

Vernon evidently has it in for Blodgett, and surprisingly also has the authority to fire him on the spot after the van is lost. While all this has been going on though Shredder managed to lose his helmet in the battle with the Turtles, causing the dragon to disappear. Blodgett finds the helmet and returns to his apartment.

Returning from the last episode are "Handsome Vernon" and "Pete Rose", though their appearances vary greatly in each of the few shots where they're seen. I will keep you informed if they pop up again.

Blodgett mopes at home and we're treated to the true MVP of this episode, his cat Mortimer. Encouraged by Mortimer (in a non-verbal fashion) to listen to the self-help audio book "How to Fix Your Messed-Up Life" by Walt Kubiak, Mortimer engages in some visualisation - while still wearing Shredder's helmet - Blodgett is able to create a huge automobile just by thinking about it.

The Turtles have to get new disguises while they scour the area for the lost Sarnath-o-meter. They adopt pizza delivery driver costumes, which of course leads to Michelangelo doing his usual schtick until Leo shuts him down. "No, fuck YOU."

Elsewhere, Shredder is belittling Baxter over and over and over until finally he's had enough and walks. Arguably the best thing he could have done here would be to just go start a new life in a new town, putting everything that's happened since he met Shredder behind him, but Baxter is still a villain and seeks power for himself. He uses the Sarnath-o-meter - which Shredder wouldn't even listen to him talk about - and goes off to find the helmet on his own.

Baxter tracks down Blodgett and it's time for a good old-fashioned nerd-off. It doesn't take a lot of effort to defeat Blodgett of course, and soon Baxter is leaving sporting Shredder's helmet. He then throws the Sarnath-o-meter away, which will simultaneously prove to be a very wise and very foolish decision.

The Turtles are scouring the city streets for the Sarnath-o-meter in the most baffling manner. I don't know what this is supposed to accomplish as it’s not like it fell between the cracks of the pavement. They're soon distracted though, by the appearance of a Taj Mahal-like building Baxter has created for himself. When the Turtles intervene, Baxter creates a blob monster to take care of them, followed by an electric monster that resembles a super-sized Kremzeek from Transformers.

Meanwhile, Blodgett has found the Sarnath-o-meter and tracked Baxter down. With the Turtles briefly indisposed, the other three fight over the helmet. Once again Blodgett is quickly dealt with, and Shredder just straight up punches Baxter in the face to lay him out. The show tries to cushion this a bit by adding a comedy "bop" sound effect, but GEEZ.

Shredder traps the Turtles in a plastic bubble that begins shrinking around them, generates a magic carpet, and flies off, T-posing to assert his dominance the whole while. April and Splinter arrive on the scene though, and free them. Blodgett also gets to rescue April from some debris that almost falls on her, so he can have some semblance of a redemption arc before he's written out of the series.

The Turtles very briefly take on some giant rock monsters generated by Shredder before facing him in a final showdown. Donatello soon realises that Shredder is in possession of both the Eye of Sarnath and the tracker, which is in fact intended to destroy the artefact so no-one can use it. The Turtles attempt to warn Shredder that they're about to explode, and he hurls them into the water. The resulting blast almost knocks everyone off the bridge.

Take it as a given that Shredder's alive, given that we're only five episodes into season two. Will his supposed demise even be referenced next episode, or will he just show up like nothing ever happened? (You've gotta keep reading Turtlethon to see how this season plays out...)

Back at Blodgett's apartment, there's a resolution info dump required to wrap everything up nicely. April explains that she was able to convince Burne to re-hire Blodgett. Somebody was well aware that this would make for dull television, so their conversation is heard over scenes of Raphael channel surfing. In order, we get glimpses of the following:

1) Some Smurf lookalikes

2) Alvin & The Chipmunks if they were mice. The main one has an "M" instead of an "A", so Melvin & The Mice, perhaps?

3) Most bizarrely of all, what appears to be a GI Joe or Rambo / Ninja Turtles hybrid. Raph and Don are REALLY into this one. This whole sequence seems to be another Walt Kubiak in-joke, as he had been a producer on Smurfs, Alvin and the Rambo cartoon prior to taking on that role for TMNT.

Blodgett offers to take April and the Turtles out for a fancy meal to celebrate his re-hiring, until April adds that the cost of replacing the van will come out of his salary. He then suggests they order pizza instead and as you might expect, the Turtles are much more receptive to this. It does raise some questions about whether Burne expected April to take the hit for the van that got destroyed on her watch in the previous episode though.

"Curse of the Evil Eye" is another A-1 Productions episode, but curiously is a lot more even and consistent than "The Mean Machines", with none of the quirky characters or errors seen in that outing. There's some enjoyment here in seeing the Shredder/Baxter friction come to a head, and just to finally reach the finish line of the Sarnath storyline. The late introduction of Blodgett in the Macguffin hunt bogs things down somewhat, as he's not particularly likeable or entertaining. Don’t worry though, he won't return, ever.

That also means no more Mortimer though. Dang.

Martin Pasko will contribute another story in season 4, by which time TMNT will very much have found its groove. The next couple of episodes will gradually start moving the pieces into place to get us there, beginning with the return of Rocksteady & Bebop after a lengthy absence in "The Case of the Killer Pizzas".
